In 2024, MAA aligned with SEC and NIST 2.0 standards, attending quarterly FBI-led InfraGard workshops and strengthening resilience through weekly phishing simulations and penetration testing. Associates’ participation drove a full percentage point reduction in phishing click rates, positioning MAA ahead of peers.
Corporate LEAD Program
Associate Engagement
The Corporate LEAD Program graduated its first cohort in April 2024. Associates completed capstone projects, paired with senior mentors, to enhance their leadership and professional skills, preparing them for future promotions.

MAA prioritizes safety with integrated protocols and proactive improvements, engaging in quarterly meetings between safety leaders and regional service directors to align best practices.

In October 2024, MAA achieved the highest survey participation in company history, with more than 1,400 associates submitting over 3,400 comments. Eighteen engagement drivers improved year over year, with none declining, reflecting a strong feedback culture.

MAA’s sustainability governance is anchored by ISO 14001-certified systems, pillar-focused committees, and a Disclosure Committee from accounting, legal, and audit. These groups ensure accuracy and integrity in reporting across 300+ properties.
